A completely new footwear has been born!
This revolutionary footwear, using Hinoki White Cedar, is a product of the “Rendezvous Project” in Shizuoka, and was created by Mizutori in collaboration with the prominent Japanese artist Kodue Hibino.
The gentle perfume the wood exhales, not only aids in relaxation, but also works as a natural antiseptic and deodorant. The surface is pleasant to the touch and is sculptured to gently provide maximum support and comfort for your feet.
The Hinoki material comes from self-sustaining forests planted to protect the mountain ecosystem and help the global environment. Mizutori products are individually handcrafted making the best use of Japanese traditional materials and techniques.
To fit the texture of the pure Hinoki, we have chosen synthetic “Serba” and “Lima” materials for the uppers. Non-trimmed edges and punching give the Hinoki footwear a simple and distinctive finish. Hinoki footwear can be worn indoors and out, at the office and on a casual outing.
Costume artist Kodue Hibino studied visual communication design at Tokyo Art University. She has worked as a costume designer in a wide range of fields: theatre, dance, ballet, films, TV, etc. Ms. Hibono has held many exhibitions and is a winner of many awards, including the “Mainichi Fashion Award” and the “Shiseido Award.” She designs the costumes for two current NHK TV series.
The “Rendezvous Project in Shizuoka” is a local project of the “Spiral” cultural facility complex in Tokyo, whose aim is to foster innovation in product design, under the theme of Fusion of Life and Art.
